Precisely timed to coincide with the fifth day following the 25th anniversary of the Mac, it is macMacDevs[19]!
So what better time to look back at 25 years of the Mac – starts singing “We Are Apple (Leading The Way)”, which is the closest Apple ever got to having a cheerleader-style cheer – or look forward to lots of cool Mac and iPhone development.
macMacDevs[19] will be held at Offshore, 3/5 Gibson Street, Glasgow, G12 8NU, on Thursday 29 January 2009, from 19:00 until whenever.
Turn up, talk code, sing, cheer, pick out interiors for the private jet, whatever. Let me – david at macmacdev dot com – know if you’ll be able to make it.

The Mac Developer Network are hosting a Mac Developer Conference on 16 and 17 April 2009, called MacDev2009 – no relation to MacMacDev!
The conference is designed for Mac developers who want to spend 2 days together geeking out while being educated by some of the world’s top Mac Developers, including two (Matt Legend Gemmell and Fraser Speirs) from MacMacDev.

Announcing the last Edinburgh MacMacDev of 2008, and also TGI – The Glasgow Invasion!
The fourth Thursday of December this year happens to be Christmas Day, so there won’t be a Glasgow MacMacDev this month, so if you’re from Glasgow (or anywhere else that isn’t Edinburgh I suppose), why not join TGI and meet up with MacMacDev’ers in Edinburgh?
macMacDevs[17] will be held at Mezz, 49-51 London Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6LX on Thursday 11 December 2008, from 19:00 until whenever.
If you’re able to come along please let me know – david at macmacdev dot com – so I can reserve a table, especially important for those hungry invaders who will be looking for food! If you’re planning on coming through from Glasgow let me know and we can try and co-ordinate transport.

In the spirit of shameless-self-promotion (also known as talking about iPhone Application Development at the Apple Store next Tuesday), I’m looking for others to do the same!
I’d like to feature iPhone applications by MacMacDev-ers, so if you’ve got an application on the App Store and want to be featured in my presentation send me – david at macmacdev dot com – some screenshots (landscape and portrait would be good), the icon (preferably at 256×256), app name, company name, price, and a brief description.
I’ve still got room for others on the panel discussion, so if you want to take part in that too let me know!

By a bizarre coincidence, the scheduling of Thanksgiving has coincided perfectly with that of MacMacDev, falling as they do this year on 27 November. We have a lot to be thankful for: iPhone NDA having been lifted; shiny new Developer Forums; and probably some non-Apple-related things too.
macMacDevs[16] will be held at Offshore, 3/5 Gibson Street, Glasgow, G12 8NU, on Thursday 27 November 2008, from 19:00 until whenever.
Turn up, talk code, tell us all what you’re thankful for (even the non-Apple things). Let me – david at macmacdev dot com – know if you’ll be able to make it.

Just updated on the schedule of events for Apple Store Glasgow is my “iPhone Application Development” talk: Tuesday 2 December 2008, 5:00pm-6:00pm.
I’m going to go through the steps involved in writing a (very!) simple iPhone application to give newcomers to the platform – or those who are just keen to see what goes on behind the scenes – an overview of what’s involved. We’ll race through Xcode and Interface Builder, and hopefully get an application that will run on the iPhone, even though the chances of it ever being accepted for the App Store are zero. (For those who were at the Apple iPhone Tech Talk think of my talk as being the exact opposite of their approach…)
Following that we’ll have a panel-discussion – the general consensus was that the panel we had for the Cocoa Development talk was extremely worthwhile – which will give people an opportunity to talk code with other developers.
So I’m looking for volunteers to take part in the Q&A part and shamelessly plug their own apps! If you’re interested in helping me out please let me – david at macmacdev dot come – know.

Yes, it is that time already: second Thursday of the month, so it must be Edinburgh! We’ve moving slightly further down the road this month to avoid the pub quiz at Baroque (and, no, it wasn’t because they wouldn’t let us use iPhones to google for all the answers…)
macMacDevs[15] will be held at Mezz, 49-51 London Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6LX (which is just down the hill from Baroque) on Thursday 13 November 2008, from 19:00 until whenever.
Turn up, talk code, play with new iPhone apps, tell me your thoughts about iPhone developer training (we’ve got something planned in that area). Let me – david at macmacdev dot com – know if you’ll be able to make it so I have an idea of numbers.

The fourth virtual MacMacDev -applicationDidShip: award goes to Favorites (Website, Appstore) by Matt Gemmell of Instinctive Code.
Favorites lets you speed-dial (or speed-SMS, or speed-email) your favorite contacts, with a great-looking UI that’s really intuitive to use. The application lets you easily organize and customize your favorite contacts.
Favorites is available for £1.19. Congratulations to Matt for shipping this really useful application, and for being the fourth recipient of the -applicationDidShip: award!

Last Thursday in every month – that is the rule for calculating Glasgow’s MacMacDev meeting. So if you thought it was the fourth Thursday in every month you’d be right most of the time, but not this month.
macMacDevs[14] will be held at Offshore, 3/5 Gibson Street, Glasgow, G12 8NU, on Thursday 30 October 2008, from 19:00 until whenever.
Turn up, talk code. Given that it’ll almost be Halloween feel free to dress your Mac or iPhone up – although making your Mac run Windows all evening might be a bit too scary…
