Apple carefully planned their UK iPhone Tech Talk so as not to clash with this month’s Edinburgh double-meeting!

macMacDevs[41] (formal protocol) will be in the Meeting Room, Beehive, 18-20 Grassmarket, Edinburgh, EH1 2JU from 16:00 to 18:00 on Thursday 12 November 2009.

We’ll have a brief overview of the aims of MacMacDev, and then help you get the most out of your Mac and iPhone development. Whether you’re a beginner looking for some guidance; or have an idea for a Mac or iPhone application and want feedback; or an experienced developer looking for some code review, bug fixes, or advice, we’ll try our best.

Following the formal meeting will be macMacDevs[42].

October 27th, 2009

We’re experimenting with a new format for macMacDev meetings: a formal meeting, followed by an informal meeting. Feel free to turn up for either or both (or none, but we’d love it if you didn’t choose this option!)

Our first formal meeting will be macMacDevs[39], which will be held in the Boardroom on Level 10 at Livingstone Tower, Strathclyde University on Thursday 29 October 2009, from 16:00 to 18:00. (Follow signs for the General Office on Level 10 of Livingstone Tower, the boardroom is on the right hand side of the general office area).

We’ll have a brief overview of the aims of MacMacDev, a blitz talk from Fraser Speirs, and then help you get the most out of your Mac and iPhone development. Whether you’re a beginner looking for some guidance; or have an idea for a Mac or iPhone application and want feedback; or an experienced developer looking for some code review, bug fixes, or advice, we’ll try our best.

Following the formal meeting will be macMacDevs[40].

If you’re planning on coming along, please let me - david@macmacdev.com - know.

Looking for some good books - either printed or ebooks - on Mac and iPhone development? Fancy 50% discount on some ebooks?

Apress, in conjunction with MacMacDev, are offering 50% off Apress ebooks.

I’ve been reading my way through a number of the Apress iPhone development books, and I’ve been impressed with the content and presentation. I’ll bring some of the titles along to the next MacMacDev meetings so you can have a flick through them, and I’ll post my reviews of the titles later on.

If you want to take advantage of the 50% discount on ebooks, email me - david at macmacdev dot com - for a promotional code to use at the checkout.

If you’d rather have printed copies of the books, Apress are offering 40% discount through a campaign with Macworld through to the end of the year.

Apress are also interested in hearing ideas for other Mac and iPhone book titles, so if you have any ideas, or would like to write for them, let me know.

macMacDevs[35] = Aberdeen_Archibald_Simpson

September 8th, 2009

Aberdeen? Yes, that’s right! Not content with two cities in Scotland, we’re aiming for a third. Aberdeen is set to get an Apple Store soon too, so it makes sense to try and find all the Mac and iPhone developers in Aberdeen.

The inaugural Aberdeen MacMacDev will be macMacDevs[35], which will be held at The Archibald Simpson, 5 Castle Street, Aberdeen, AB11 5BQ on Thursday 17 September, from 19:00 until whenever.

John S. Eddie of Zicron Software will be looking after the actual meeting since I won’t be able to be there, but if you can let me - david at macmacdev dot com - know if you’re able to make it that would be great!

So spread the word to any Mac or iPhone developer you know in the Aberdeen area!

macMacDevs[34] will be held at Mezz, 49-51 London Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6LX, on Thursday 10 September 2009, from 19:00 until whenever.
